Standardized Patient Program

The Standardized Patient Program at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix is one of the newest in the country, founded in 2007. This exciting, innovative program will double in size over the coming year to prepare for an increased class size and the opening of a new simulation center. Currently, the program is comprised of more than 40 Standardized Patients (SPs) who are trained to portray patients during student assessment and learning activities. Through SPs students learn and practice physical exam and communication skills beginning in their first week of medical school.
